I wasn't looking foward to shopping for a car, but had to face the fact that it was time to do it. With 155,000 miles on the Saturn and the liklihood of more repairs this winter, it didn't make sense to hold on to it much longer.
A few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon while visiting my parents I mentioned that I was going to start looking for something else. The next day Dad called me at work and said he found one for me. I went to look at it and test drive it that night along with the neighbor Loren who used to make Ford vehicles. We all agreed it would be a good deal although we did try to talk down the price without success.
It is a black '97 Mercury Sable with only 52,000 miles on it (at time of purchase) and very clean inside and out. It certainly appears that it was not used in the winter as there is no rust anywhere and the carpet is in great shape. It is loaded with a lot of features, even a sun roof. I especially appreciate the quality of the seat which offers me a more comfortable ride (particularly in light of the hip/pelvis pain I've been having). Generally I just look for reliability and decent mileage in a car, but I'm getting that plus a whole lot more with the extra features on this car.
Then I sold the Saturn to a kid who was thrilled to have it. Both he and his Dad have some mechanical ability and are used to dealing with higher mileage cars so it seemed to work out fine with them.
