Veterans

I am pleased to have the opportunity to honor my parents and my brother Bob on this Veterans Day thanking them once again for their service to our country.

My Father served from August 1942 to November 1945 in the South Pacific, involved in the Southern Philippines, Luzon and Bismarck Archipalago. My Mother served stateside from February 1944 to December 1945.

A story my Father wrote on this is recorded in a previous blog post from June 19, 2009 entitled "Good Soldiers." http://firstlightofdawn.blogspot.com/2009/06/good-soldiers.html

Another blog post with nice photos of them both in uniform are on a blog post from May 24, 2008 entitled Remembering Pt 2 http://firstlightofdawn.blogspot.com/2008/05/remembering-pt-3.html

My brother's four years of service in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War was posted December 21, 2008 http://firstlightofdawn.blogspot.com/2008/12/crossroads.html
.
An excerpt from Dad's writings: We served our country and did what we were told, nothing heroic and nothing to be ashamed of either. We were good soldiers.
.
No one can measure the value of your service. Thank you.
